Star Wars LEGO Ultimate Super Star Destroyer 10221
Ok, I did mention in my last post that I own a bunch of Star Wars LEGO sets, right? Here’s the review of the Star Wars LEGO Ultimate Super Star Destroyer 10221.
First I will say WOW, this is an awesome set to build! It is quite huge as well as I believe it weighs a little over 8 pounds, that’s a ton of LEGO bricks!
You really have to have a good large area to display this behemoth. It measures an awesome 48″ or at least I think that’s how long it is, I don’t have the exact info on the length (another bit of info I will be updating soon).
It does have only one piece that actually is removable and that is the top portion which when removed reveals the command part of the ship (the brains of the thing).
I had a ton of fun building this and started it after I did the Millennium Falcon, the same day at that. This model took me almost 3 days to build , has a ton of pieces, lots of colorful bricks that you never see.
I’m talking a rainbow of colors but on the outside it is just black and grey, as it should be. It is one of those builds that when you finish it you look at it and say, I’m never taking this apart! But in my move this past few weeks I had to do this very thing.
It was heartbreaking but ya know what?…I get to build it again,YAY!
This time it’s going to be built a little different as I am going to be running fiber optic wires throughout the model to make the engines glow, the sides glow like windows would in a spaceship and a few other place to give it that KAPOW!
First I should give a little info on this… It came with 5 minifigs: Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Dengar, IG-88 and an Admiral Firmus Piett. The year it came out was 2011.
A smaller mini star destroyer also come with the 10221 model and this model sits upon two sturdy LEGO stands built like the one that holds up the Darth Vader’s Tie Advanced Starfighter Prototype model #10175. (Can you tell what model is going to be in the next post)?
The BOOK, and I mean it is a book unlike I have ever seen for a LEGO set. This star destroyer manual has a whopping 221 pages in it and is spiral bound, very easy to read, very detailed manual.
Some of the steps repeat many many times but when you have a model this large, you are bound to run across that from time to time.
I do have some pictures of the build and I am darn sure I didn’t take a picture of every step but I did take a ton of pictures. The only reason I didn’t take that many is the pure fact of…I was having way too much fun to stop and take a photo of that particular step or steps, probably because of the before mentioned that it has a ton of steps that repeat itself many times.
This model is intricate to say the least. When you get real close and look at how many one piece blocks there are on this, you would be amazed!
Ok, I know if you don’t own this set you are probably saying, well…show me some pictures already…ok, here they are!
Star Wars LEGO Ultimate Super Star Destroyer 10221 Pictures
WOW, now that is a ton of pictures eh? 192 to be exact and a few of the “Revenge of the Sith” movie playing in the background. What else would you watch when putting something like this together?
Well, that is all I have for this model. Please feel free to leave any comments or if you have any other questions about this Star Wars LEGO Ultimate Super Star Destroyer 10221, ask away! I have a real time LEGO build for this set and you can find it here.
Thanks again for stopping by and checking out my newest site and this is just the beginning. Many more topics and all sorts of things to look at, mess with and just have fun with while being here.
